Wherever the car is sitting is where this gets done, and on Alameda that is a short list of places. The lots strung along Crown Memorial State Beach, where a jacket goes onto the seat and the door closes behind it. The angled parking and side streets around the Park Street shops, and Webster Street at the west end. The marina, where the keys went out on the boat and the car stayed on the asphalt. Driveways all over the island, where a gust off the water takes a door out of somebody's hand. Tell dispatch which lot and what you can see from where you are standing. Along the shoreline that matters more than anywhere else, since walking the length of the sand eats more time than the whole drive from Park Street.
