Terms of Service

A price is named on the phone before anybody drives over the bridge, and that price covers the work described to us. It already contains the $89 service call. It does not rise at the door. It changes only if you ask for something different once the technician is standing there, and that change is priced and agreed before any further work starts.

Ranges printed on this site are ranges, not quotes — the binding figure is the one said on the call. Evening arrivals add +$50 and overnight arrivals add +$88, both stated inside the total before dispatch.

Before opening anything we establish that you are entitled to be inside it — a photo ID with the address, a lease, a registration, a manager who confirms you. Where that cannot reasonably be shown, we stop and leave. It is the same check that protects your own front door.

Picking and manipulation first, so the door keeps the hardware it came with. Drilling happens only after you say so out loud, with the replacement part and its price agreed first.

Our labour carries a 90-day workmanship warranty from the day of the visit. Hardware is covered by whatever the manufacturer gives it. Neither covers damage from misuse, from somebody forcing the door later, or from another pair of hands altering our work.

Payment is due when the work is finished; cards and contactless are taken at the door and an itemised invoice follows by email. If a van has already been dispatched and you cancel after it arrives, the cancellation fee quoted to you on the call applies.

So far as the law allows, Fernside Lock Shop Alameda's liability for any claim arising out of a job is capped at what was paid for that job. Nothing here removes liability that cannot lawfully be removed.

These terms are governed by the law of CA, and disputes belong to the courts serving Alameda.
