Shops on Park Street and Webster Street, offices reached by the same street door, stockrooms, and storage bays and hangars at the west end, opened once a lease page, a badge or a word from the manager settles that the door is yours to open. Between midnight and 7am the figure carries $88, agreed before anyone sets off.

$169 to $445. A split jamb cut back and rebuilt to solid wood, a long keeper anchored well past the casing, a fresh cylinder and a bolt with somewhere to land again. One visit, with the paperwork broken into lines a claim can be filed from. On a street door the owner gets the same written description you do.

$30 to $47 per cylinder. New pins go into the lock already hanging there, and every key handed out before today stops working. Your own flat door needs nobody else's permission. The street door, the mail row and the yard gate go through whoever holds the building. Cylinders after the first sit at the bottom of the range, since the van is already at the curb.

$127 to $332. Deadbolts, handlesets and levers, including a first proper deadbolt on a flat door that has only ever had a latch. Tall old leaves get measured before anything is cut, because the stile beside the glass in a Victorian front door forgives nothing, and the keeper is anchored into framing rather than into casing.

$192 to $479. A keypad or app lock set into a door built long before keypads existed, so the leaf, the bore, the hinges and the keeper are put right first and the electronics go on last. Codes are yours and you type them in yourself. The override blank from the carton is cut at the van the same day rather than left in a drawer.

$198 to $529. Bedroom, closet and back-office safes opened by hand where they stand, whether the combination left with the previous owner or the boltwork has stopped moving. A new number is set to something you choose, and the sensible place to write it down is not the room it is standing in.

Quoted once every opening has been walked and listed. A building of flats where the street door, the basement and the laundry have to be reachable by one key while each flat stays private, or a row of units with offices over the top.

$302 to $769 per door. Push bars and exit devices for shops, kitchens and rear exits onto the service lane, fitted new, rebuilt, or brought back into line so the latch drops home instead of dragging across the keeper. Name an inspection date on the call and the work is scheduled against it.

Quoted once the doors are counted. Readers, keypads, electric strikes and credentials for suites, offices and yard buildings, with a key-operated way in left working on every leaf for the morning the power is out.

$162 to $472. Aluminum and glass doors on Park Street and Webster Street, where the same four faults repeat: a hookbolt stopping short of the keeper, a deadlatch worn too shallow to hold, a cylinder that binds by mid-afternoon, and a closer that has been pulling the frame out of true for a year.

$154 to $415. Blade or proximity key cut and coded beside the vehicle, with the spare done in the same sitting even when there is nothing left to copy from. Licence and registration are read against the plate first, and the old key is dropped from the car memory if you want it gone.

$92 to $199. Remotes and proximity fobs written to the car where it sits. A fob that has gone deaf goes on a tester before anything is sold, so you find out whether the fault is in your pocket or in the vehicle.

$182 to $455. Worn wafers, a cylinder that jams halfway, or a switch that turns and leaves the dash dark. Rebuilt or exchanged at the curb, and kept on the key already in your pocket wherever the make permits it.

$125 to $285. Bikes and scooters. The blade is read off the lock and cut on the spot, the chip is written beside the machine, and the seat, the fork lock and the fuel cap are all tried before the case closes.
